Denmark to South Coast Norway

Travelling north up the Jutland Peninsula the first town we stopped at in Denmark was Gram. The church and cemetery caught our eye as we were passing through. It is a lovely 12th century church that was once owned by the King of Denmark. The royal house of Denmark was established in the 10th century by a Viking king called Gorm the Old. In the centuries that followed Denmark's rule covered a much larger area than today including what is now Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Greenland and parts of Finland. This country has a very complicated history!
